Hi Terry, I feel as though I went to church just now! Great job on this. You are passionate and inspiring. Indeed, I find that prayer in the moment is the best teaching philosophy there is. Amen and hallelujah! Have you read the works of Howard Gardner? I believe that you would enjoy his theory of multiple intelligences. I wonder how you see the parable of Jesus as a model of teaching??? I look forward to hearing from you! Jennifer
Terry, I enjoyed your post very much… I agree that this may be the post that takes the road less traveled. We often times find it important to apply the lessons and theories of those that we study in our education lessons and look by or beyond the lessons of the original Teacher, Jesus. I believe that this is a case of the age old adage, “not being able to see the forest for the trees”. Undoubtedly if we seek the Lords guidance daily, before we step into the classroom, He will indeed guide our paths. Previous life application – I have always told my soldiers and cadets that everything is an example. It can be an example of exactly what to do or what not to do but is an example all the same. Young leaders just as all teachers, should watch, study and learn from every source that they can and then figure out what will work for them and their personality. One should take the best bits and pieces of knowledge and information from everywhere, apply those things that will work for them and what will be the result is the best leader that they can be, right now. We are all lifelong learners and as such our best should always be getting better. Thanks for a great post! Blessings, Ron
Terry, What a great way to incorporate all that Scripture into your theory of education. I wholeheartedly agree with you that God is our best example of the way in which teaching should occur. He used many different strategies and accommodated various learning modalities. Thanks for the reminder to keep ourselves focused on the true reason we are all here in the first place...to bring glory to God. By the grace of God, we will be able to win the race he has set before us.
